Driven by his people and communication skills, Nicholas Catello, PharmD has excelled as a pharmacist in his hometown of Staten Island for more than a decade. He served as a staff pharmacist at CVS Caremark Corporation from 2008 to 2011 and a clinical manager at Rite Aid for a year, and has been the supervising pharmacist at Local Community Pharmacies since 2012. In addition to her responsibilities in the latter role, he launched his own neighborhood practice—Arrochar Pharmacy, Inc.—in 2021. Seeing firsthand how corporate pharmacy worked, and how the industry is not set up to be customer-centered, he has strived to do the exact opposite—being on the patients’ side in every way he can and replicating the experience of going to an old-fashioned pharmacy in a bygone era.

Dr. Catello has worked in service since he was 13 and always enjoyed bettering someone’s day. Although he initially aspired to run his own construction company, when he was a senior in high school, his guidance counselor encouraged him to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry. He attended St. John’s University, where he obtained a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2009, as well as a license to practice. He has utilized his people-person skills and abilities to have people open up to him over the years to establish long-lasting relationships and grow his customer base and business to where it is now.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Catello wants to develop a distributing business along with his pharmacy. He feels grateful that he was able to take over a store that was already mostly staffed and bring in new people who have worked together so well. In fact, the former owner of the pharmacy still works there. Receiving support and compliments on a daily basis, Dr. Catello has a customer who makes and brings him cookies every other month. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessica, and their two children, Valentina and Dominik.
